Background of the project
In partnership with Credit Suisse, Empact is running a programme designed to empower founders and leadership teams of 9 social enteprises. Called baSEcamp, it aims to equip these founders and leadership teams with strong business perspectives, address their specific organisational and individual challenges, as well as provide opportunities for peer learning.
One of the participant of baSEcamp has requested for internal capacity building support in establishing a Project Management System. Currently, cofounders interface directly with stakeholders in their own way, with no clear Project Management System. This sometimes results in miscommunications and makes it difficult to manage as the number of projects and stakeholders grow.
About the social enterprise needing support
The enterprise is based in Singapore and their mission is to help learners from all walks of life enter and grow in meaningful careers. They run train-and-place programmes in Digital marketing and UI/UX Design. More information will be shared upon interest.
What is currently done
The team currently operates alright in the less-than-ideal state. One of the cofounders is working on developing systems and frameworks by gradually understanding internal and industry practices, and gradually adopting processes / templates / automations.
How would the project benefit the enterprise
The project will have an immediate effect on their employer proposition, process efficiency, and stakeholder management. As they plan towards the next stage of growth, it will also help them allocate and optimise resources.
Extra note on number of volunteers required
The ideal number of volunteers for this project is 2 - 4 pax.
Extra note on timeline / start and end of project
The start and end date of the project is flexible; as long as it happens between July and November 2021. Volunteers need to commit up to 3 working sessions with the social enterprise (see Milestones for more information); timeline will be dependent on everyone's availability.
The social enterprise is seeking implementation support to develop two levels of framework. One would be implemented immediately for the current team size, and another in the mid-term for where the team expands.
More specifically, the expected deliverables include:
- Getting an understanding on proper structures and frameworks for Project Management, and the tangible differences that they can bring.
- Creation of a framework that can be piloted, reviewed, and implemented with current-stage operations
- Proposal of future-stage roadmap on when and how structures can be updated as the team grow
This can be further defined upon interest.
Empact will conduct an onboarding session to prepare the volunteers for the project. Things that will be covered in the session include:
- The social enterprise landscape
- Challenges that social enterprises face
- Specific information about the social enterprise receiving your support
Empact will also be present at all meetings to bridge any context where necessary.
