In addition to operating freestanding residences for families whose child is in the hospital, RMH also has in-hospital services to provide respite care and support  to families spending weeks inside the hospital.  Family Rooms are where parents go to make and eat a meal, do  laundry, shower, business center, phone charging, and quiet time away from the hospital room.

RMH would like to explore what other services other hospitals offer that would give families and siblings support and comfort during the day.

This is a research project to collect information about best practices for partnerships between hospitals and the community as defined by hospital auxiliary associations, how they are structured and how they operate.  More specifically, we are interested in learning what services other auxiliaries provide, such as music programs, art, food, child care, book carts, education, and any descriptions that would be useful in evaluating if same are viable at area hospitals.

Built with love, Ronald McDonald House offers a comforting home away from home and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families.  The House supports families of chronically ill children through hospitality (lodging & meals) as well as through social and emotional support programs.  Parents and caregivers are better able to be present for their children's treatment, improving children's medical outcomes.  In some cases families would not seek life saving care at Duke without Ronald McDonald House because it is simply not possible to live in a car or waiting room with patient siblings and other family, without access to affordable food, for extended periods of time.

1

Pianificazione
