River Thames clean up Battersea Bridge
Informazioni sull'evento
At our habitat restoration events, you will be led by one of our friendly Thames21 staff to take practical conservation action. River restoration is the process of managing rivers to reinstate natural processes to restore biodiversity, providing benefits to both people and wildlife.
Naturally functioning rivers and floodplains provide ample benefits to society including flood regulation, freshwater supply, tourism/recreation, water purification, carbon storage and improved human health. Many of these benefits, along with biodiversity and habitat, are compromised if rivers are modified.
Our habitat restoration events can include aspects of removing vegetation to increase biodiversity, reinstating natural process by reintroducing woody material where appropriate that restrict access along the channel or Identifying and marking positions of invasive non-native species or removing them from the project site among others.
This event will focus on litter picking from the Foreshore of the River Thames to remove plastic pollution which is a hazard to human and animal health.
