Volunteering Program Upgrades

  • À propos des initiatives
  • UN SDGs
  • A propos de l'association

Volunteers start with an immersive permaculture introduction covering ethics, design principles, soil health, and ethical food systems, tailored to your expertise in education and NGO projects. They then implement these learnings through real-world projects over 4-6 weeks, supporting initiatives in areas like youth engagement and rural development. We primarily work with European Solidarity Corps participants aged 18+.

Key Activities

  • Participate in guided permaculture sessions on composting, planting, water management, and natural building.
  • Apply skills on-site through garden maintenance, food production, and bio-construction at our permaculture demonstration site.
  • Extend impact into the local community via workshops, school visits, and collaborative greening projects with residents.
  • Support event logistics, volunteer coordination, and non-formal education activities.

To expand your volunteering program at JJ Films & Culture beyond summer months and host more participants year-round, focus on practical upgrades to the campsite infrastructure, prioritizing additional accommodation and essential amenities like indoor toilets and showers. These improvements address volunteer comfort, hygiene standards, and Romanian regulations for certified accommodation sites, enabling larger groups (e.g., 10-20 volunteers) even in cooler seasons.

Upgrading the JJ Films & Culture campsite for year-round volunteering involves overcoming seasonal weather limitations like cold winters and heavy rains that restrict outdoor stays beyond summer, deterring larger volunteer groups. Current sanitation gaps, lacking indoor toilets and showers, fail hygiene standards for extended hosting and larger numbers. Limited capacity confines us to 4-6 volunteers at a time, hindering permaculture outreach goals, while funding and material constraints slow expansion. Ongoing maintenance burdens strain our NGO team's project management duties without sufficient skilled hands.

Insulate cabins with natural materials and add wood stoves to ensure winter comfort. Install composting toilets, solar showers, and greywater reed beds for sustainable, low-cost sanitation compliant with Romanian rules, built partly by volunteers. Phase upgrades starting with 2 cabins, sourcing local timber donations to quickly scale to 12-16 year-round spots.

JJ Films Culture

JJ Films & Culture (name of the physical project: Dupa Gard) empowers communities and individuals through regenerative land design, innovative social approaches, nature connection methodology and non-formal education programs centered on permaculture, sustainable living, and local rural wisdom. We promote youth engagement, rural development, and ethical food systems by blending digital media with hands-on workshops to foster resilient, regenerative futures in Romania and beyond.
