ATTENTION: please donate through TOUGH TRADER tab from the top menu bar to support the team competing for additional prizes for Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI).

The mission of Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI) is empowering youth who have the fewest resources to achieve their greatest potential. Over the past 26 years, FYI has assisted thousands of low-income, immigrant, and first generation children to build secure futures, healthy lives, and strong academic achievement. Programs operate at five sites from 165th to 204th Streets in Northern Manhattan where 1,500 children, pre-K through grade 12, participate in afterschool, summer camp, advisory, mental health, education, and college access programs.

FYI Board member Isabelle Sajous (AM Compliance) says, “I was immediately drawn to FYI’s mission because I see how impactful their programs are for children and teens who want to achieve in school, pursue meaningful careers, and give back to their community, but whose families lack the social capital to propel them forward.”

FYI was recently chosen by Credit Suisse’s GCP 2019 Analyst Class as their Charity of Choice. Carolyn Chen says, “We chose this organization because of its focus on not just educational development, but also on youth mentorship and community engagement. In line with the CS Foundation’s Future Skills Initiative, it is inspiring and empowering young people to be life-long learners.”

Credit Suisse participated in the Fresh Youth Initiatives 5K in Riverside Park on November 10, and the Credit Suisse FYI 5K team raised over $6,000 for the charity.

In Washington Heights, a closely-knit Latino community in northern Manhattan, 37% of children live below the poverty line; 63% read below grade level; many are categorized homeless, living doubled-up with extended family. Language barriers, cultural differences, and lack of social capital prevent parents from helping their kids with basic school tasks. Limited resources inhibit parents and children from accessing: academic supports; counseling and crisis interventions; or trusted and professional evaluation to address other complex concerns.

Families and schools rely on FYI to fill those gaps, and FYI relies on donor contributions to support our essential, life-changing programs.
