Each night our guests return from a stressful day at the hospital. We feed them dinner and offer an after dinner activity to help them relax and unwind. We invite volunteers to produce and put on this activity, and many times the groups focus on activities geared toward children, when in fact the attendees are mainly adult caregivers. Credit Suisse would compile a list of one hour activities that volunteers can offer and that appeal to adults. (15 )
A digital library of activities that a volunteer group could use to entertain our families, and that could be stored on a site for future reference.
Built with love, Ronald McDonald House offers a comforting home away from home and a community of support for seriously ill children and their families. The House supports families of chronically ill children through hospitality (lodging & meals) as well as through social and emotional support programs. Parents and caregivers are better able to be present for their children's treatment, improving children's medical outcomes. In some cases families would not seek life saving care at Duke without Ronald McDonald House because it is simply not possible to live in a car or waiting room with patient siblings and other family, without access to affordable food, for extended periods of time. Room cost is a nominal amount, but no one is turned away due to inability to pay.

Milestones
Introduction
Volunteer to review the project resources and meet with main contact to establish a common understanding of the project and the deliverables.
Research
Activities should last for 30-60 minustes. They need to be fairly simple to explain and learn, with the activity contained in the dining room out of respect for other families who choose not to participate. We do have prizes on hand that can be made available with advanced notice. The goal should be activities that are not hyper competitive or intense, and engender fun interaction if possible. Bingo is our most popular activity.
