Preparing clothing donations for refugees

About the event

On this day, participants will learn more about our organization and the current project in Greece (Be Aware And Share).

Gathering, coffee, and welcome. Afterwards, the Sonnenhaus (sorting warehouse) will be presented, as well as all the organizations that work for the Sonnenhaus. Then we will actively sort clothes according to gender, size, warmth, etc.

We will enjoy a small snack lunch together at the Sonnenhaus. Afterwards, we will travel by public transport to Deisswil to the REFY central warehouse. REFY will introduce itself (REFY organizes and carries out all clothing transports to crisis areas). Afterwards, we will start the joint return trip to the Sonnenhaus. Question and answer session, final coffee and farewell.

The day benefits all organizations that work at the Sonnenhaus. The donations benefit all refugees and people in need who are living in precarious countries and situations. For example, Bosnia, Greece, but also Paris (almost unimaginable, but many refugees live on the streets there. We have a good working relationship with a smaller organization there).

9:30 Welcome and introduction to Sonnenhaus and Be Aware And Share

9:45 Sort clothes by gender, size, and warmth rating

12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Lunch snack at the Sonnenhaus

1:15 p.m. We pack the sorted clothes into boxes. Label everything clearly and prepare it on pallets for transport.

Includes a short photo session so that some memories of the day can be shared later.

From 4:00 p.m. Closing coffee and Q&A session

Clothing donations may also be brought along., Comfortable shoes (sneakers or similar), Half-fare card or GA travelcard (travel to Bern Deisswil and back is subject to a fee), A good sweater (rather cool room)
