About the event

The effects of littering are multifaceted: littering is disruptive, reduces the sense of safety and quality of life, harms the environment, costs a lot of money, and, last but not least, damages the image of the city or community affected by the littered products. IGSU, the Swiss competence center against littering, organizes Social Responsibility Days for companies. This is because, particularly in the area of littering, companies and their employees have the opportunity to make a visible difference in a single day—for environmental protection and a litter-free natural environment.

On Social Responsibility Day, your company's employees will be accompanied by the IGSU ambassador teams. IGSU's Social Responsibility Day can be put together in a modular format, with the company itself determining the duration, start and end times: The day usually begins with a technical presentation on the topic of recycling and littering, which provides background information, costs, causes and consequences of littering, among other things. Afterwards, a tour of a recycling plant or waste incineration facility can be used to demonstrate how waste management and recycling works in Switzerland. In the practical module, employees will carry out a "clean-up campaign" in public spaces with the IGSU ambassador teams. This allows employees to experience for themselves what kinds of items are littered and to apply their new knowledge about littering and recycling. In this way, the company makes a significant contribution to the environment and society, not only during Social Responsibility Day, but also in the long term.
