Corporate volunteering on a Swiss alpine farm
About the event
Under the guidance of a mountain farmer, your employees will spend a day on a mountain or alpine farm, helping out where manual labor is required and machines are only used occasionally. Your help is invaluable because time-consuming and labor-intensive tasks can be completed efficiently when everyone pitches in. This gives you a first-hand insight into mountain farming.
The corporate volunteering program takes place in the spectacular Alpine and pre-Alpine regions of German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland, or Italian-speaking Misox. Assignments are available between May and mid-October. An alternative date will be agreed with you in case of bad weather on the original date (two dates per assignment). The weather check is usually carried out four days before the first date. The exact dates must be defined together with the project management.
In addition to the event costs, companies make a program contribution to the Caritas Switzerland mountain assistance program: This provides direct relief to mountain farming families in difficult life situations by placing individual volunteers with them. The program contribution of CHF 1,500 provides relief to a mountain farming family for around one month.

Requirements and Equipment
Anyone can participate in an alpine volunteering assignment; no special skills are required. The most important factors are motivation, a willingness to contribute, and the ability to spend a day working outdoors. A good basic level of physical fitness is necessary, along with appropriate equipment. Proper clothing suited to the weather conditions and sturdy mountain or hiking boots that provide secure footing on steep terrain are essential. In hot weather, sun protection, sunglasses, and a personal water bottle are required. In cold and wet conditions, waterproof clothing is necessary.
