On the occasion of the International Day of Sign Languages, volunteer with ConnectFor and get a chance to learn the basics of the Indian Sign Language. Volunteers will get to learn the basics of Indian Sign Language from a professional sign language trainer. After learning the basics during the volunteering session, volunteers will be creating short videos/posters - by signing certain phrases/ greetings, etc. 
 
Example: Volunteers can sign the following in the videos: greetings like ‘Good Morning’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Hope you are keeping well’ etc. Signing short sentences to convey a message etc. Signing important phrases like ‘i need help’, ‘do you need help?’, ‘do you need anything?’ etc. 

- The deliverables will consist of short 1–3-minute videos in mp4 format or posters in png format made by the volunteers by signing a certain message/greeting.

- Volunteers are required to submit a minimum of at least one deliverable to mark the successful completion of this event. 

 

- Volunteers will be assigned a topic to create a video/poster.  

- ConnectFor will share a volunteer guide for this activity with the volunteers that sign up for the activity. The guidelines would include basic instructions on recording videos on sign language, and prerequisites for the poster/video format. Instructions on submission of the deliverables, etc

Creating Awareness on Indian Sign Language

The aim of this event is to create awareness of Sign language among the general public and have everyone understand the basics of the language to be able to help and aid persons with disabilities during their time of need. The deliverables that the volunteers will create as part of this event will be disseminated among the beneficiaries, by the NGO. 

Activity Flow:

1) The event will begin with a sensitization session for the volunteers

2) Activity instructions will be shared with the volunteers

3) Topics for creating videos/posters will be allocated to the volunteers

4) Volunteers are expected to work on the deliverables during the event and submit them over email with the ConnectFor team

5) E-certificates will be shared with the volunteers within 5-7 business days post submission of the deliverables
