Volunteering in the mountain forest
Through their work, volunteers in the Mountain Forest Project experience the mountain forest up close and make an active contribution to preserving the diverse protective effects of the mountain forest. This promotes personal and ecological awareness, which the volunteers then carry out into the world.
Only a healthy mountain forest can provide protection, and it must be cared for. In times of climate change, this is becoming increasingly important. Since 1987, over 70,000 volunteers have helped with this task as part of the Mountain Forest Project, experiencing firsthand the importance of an intact natural environment.
During a week-long work assignment in the mountain forest, women and men aged 18 to 88 work under professional guidance to care for and preserve a protective forest or cultural landscape. The assignments can take place in various areas of Switzerland. Together, they carry out forestry work and increase their knowledge of nature and ecological relationships.
