  • About the initiatives

  • About the nonprofit

The rural areas of Tanzania face significant challenges, including high youth unemployment rates, limited access to quality education, and limited economic opportunities.

Future for Marginalised Community (FUMACO) recognizes the potential of sustainable agriculture as a catalyst for rural development and youth empowerment. Through our experience working with marginalized, we know that the rural areas of Tanzania face significant challenges, beside high youth unemployment rates, also limited access to quality education, and limited economic opportunities.

Future for Marginalised Community (FUMACO) recognizes the potential of sustainable agriculture as a catalyst for rural development and youth empowerment. Through our experience working with marginalized  communities, we have identified the need to equip young people with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge in sustainable agricultural practices. This concept note outlines our proposed activity to address these challenges and empower youth through sustainable agriculture.

Main Objective:

The main objective of this activity is to empower young people in rural areas with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge in sustainable agriculture, enabling them to become agents of positive change in their communities. By providing them with the necessary training and support, we aim to enhance their employability, foster economic self-reliance, and contribute to the sustainable development of rural areas.

The proposed activity will be conducted through a series of training workshops and practical sessions, complemented by mentoring and ongoing support.

FUMACO  are trying to solve on Empowering Youth through Sustainable Agriculture is the high rate of youth unemployment in rural areas. In Tanzania, young people make up a large proportion of the population, but they are often excluded from economic opportunities. This can lead to frustration, social unrest, and even migration.

Empowering youth through sustainable agriculture can help to address this problem in a number of ways. First, it can provide young people with the skills and knowledge they need to start their own businesses or work in the agricultural sector. Second, it can help to create jobs in rural areas, which can help to keep young people from migrating to cities. Third, it can help to improve food security and nutrition, which is especially important for young people.

There are a number of challenges that need to be addressed in order to successfully empower youth through sustainable agriculture.

The proposed activity on empowering youth through sustainable agriculture is expected to have a significant impact on the participants and the broader community. The reach of the activity will extend to approximately 50 Youth from rural areas of Tabora, specifically targeting those with limited access to educational and economic opportunities.

The main output of the activity will be the enhanced entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of the participants in sustainable agriculture. Through the training workshops, practical sessions, mentorship, and business plan development, the participants will acquire the necessary tools and confidence to establish their own agricultural enterprises or secure employment in the agricultural sector.

The timeline for the activity will span 3 months, beginning from September 1st and concluding on November  31st. By October, the participants will have completed the initial needs assessment, participant selection, and the first round of training workshops. They will also have engaged in practical sessions and field visits to gain hands-on experience and exposure to successful agricultural practices.

The proposed activity aims to create a ripple effect by empowering youth to become change agents within their communities. By supporting their entrepreneurship and sustainable agricultural practices, the activity seeks to contribute to rural development, poverty reduction, and the overall well-being of marginalized communities in Tanzania.

Please donate and save the future of the Tanzanian youth! Thank you.
