From Waste Management to Materials Management Penang Project Stage One
Circular Economy Asia Inc. is registered in Victoria, Australia and based in Malaysia. CEA focuses on three key areas: (1) The development of a secondary raw materials industry; (2) Skills training; (3) Circular and sustainable supply chains. Our scope of work covers the Asian region, the engine room of the world.
The world is running out of primary raw materials. Transitioning to improving resource management and ensuring end-of-use-cycle items can be reprocessed into a secondary raw material is imperative. More companies are using recycled content in their products and the Materials Management Penang Project aims to improve the current system from the bottom up to facilitate this growing industry need. The Materials Management Penang Project is not a pilot, however we need a geographical location to start and it is on the island of Penang, Malaysia.
The solution is to rebuild the system. Currently, most organisations focus on collection systems and the informal sector. The Materials Management Penang Project starts with a far broader scope by strengthening the whole system with all relevant stakeholders involved. Stage One is divided into two sections: (1) Stakeholder engagement and (2) A Needs Assessment Report.
At this stage, CEA is seeking individual donations or grants of up to US$60,000. The Materials Management Penang Project - Stage One is divided into four milestones, each valued at US$15,000. Each milestone can be reviewed by funders for completion before the next round of funding is released.
