Sanitary Patrol
About Us The Sanitary Patrol operates as an active part of the Ambulance Volunteer Service, operated by the Ambulan?a.Life Association. The Sanitary Patrol was established in 2020 with the aim of collaborating with the County Police Inspectorate in Ia?i, local, county, and national authorities to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection. Subsequently, its activities were expanded to conduct patrols during the day and night to identify, relocate, and provide premedical first aid to homeless individuals in the Municipality of Ia?i and beyond!
Our Goals Through this project, we aim to cover all the operational needs of the Sanitary Patrol through donations from individuals in Ia?i, Romania, and the diaspora. Thus, at least one team will be available 24/7 to provide premedical first aid to homeless individuals in the Ia?i Metropolitan Area at night. During the day, multiple teams will be active, as is currently the case.
Statistical Data from Previous Years In just the year 2023, the Sanitary Patrol conducted 5006 missions to identify and relocate homeless individuals, provided premedical first aid measures 3201 times, and identified 11 minors in major risk situations abandoned by parents on the streets of Ia?i or sent to beg, putting them at risk of exploitation or abuse. These cases were appropriately referred to specialists at the Ia?i General Directorate for Child Protection and Social Assistance (D.G.A.S.P.C.), who took the necessary legal measures.
Also in 2023, with the support of the people of Ia?i, individuals, and entrepreneurs, we distributed 21,139 portions of food for immediate consumption. During the heatwave, we distributed 4799 bottles of 0.5L bottled water.
With your support, we managed to procure prescribed medications for 27 beneficiaries, and approximately 100 of them received personal hygiene packages, socks, underwear, and shoes for immediate change.
