Women’s World Banking’s Leadership and Diversity Program for Regulators is a global blended learning experience for senior officials from central banks and other regulatory agencies and high-potential women from their respective institutions.

The goal of the program is for global policymakers and regulators to implement and/or enhance new and existing policies or initiatives that promote an enabling environment for women’s financial inclusion and women’s leadership/institutional gender diversity. Each senior official identifies a gender-inclusive policy initiative to sponsor at their institution and will work with their high-potential woman leader to implement it.

Policies brought into the program may be new initiatives being implemented or existing policies being enhanced, for example:

  • Legislation or Regulation (Legislation refers to any legally enforceable rules that are introduced to and passed by a legislative body or bodies, and signed by the head of government. Regulations refer to any legally enforceable rules enacted by a policy or regulatory institution, often related to enforcement of a law)
  • Initiative/Program (Initiatives/programs refer to formal or informal non-legally binding undertakings to bring about changes in specific populations, including organizations)
  • Strategy (Strategies refer to any plan or set of actions designed to accomplish a goal or goals)
  • Guidelines or Policy Note (Guidelines refer to any non-legally binding requirement that is introduced by a regulatory body to the institutions over which it presides. A policy note refers to guidance or learnings issued by regulators, usually intended to inform and influence relevant industries. A policy note may also introduce mandatory requirements)

Women’s World Banking is seeking a volunteer to conduct research and prepare one (1) Diagnostic Briefing document on governmental approaches (e.g. quotas, mandates, advice) on women’s representation in leadership in financial services providers (women on boards, women on executive committees, etc). The research will involve a secondary scan of different approaches used by governments to promote or enforce women’s leadership representation, and any documented outcomes or impacts of these policies.

One (1) Diagnostic Brief providing a summary of secondary research on the identified policy issue. The brief will be provided to LDR participants to help inform their gender-centric policy initiative.

Volunteers will work with Women’s World Banking’s Global Policy Director who will provide:

  • Guidance through weekly check-in meetings and regular email communication
  • Access to existing secondary research conducted by Women’s World Banking and suggestions for additional sources as needed
