Background of the project
In partnership with Credit Suisse, Empact is running a programme designed to empower founders and leadership teams of 9 social enteprises. Called baSEcamp, it aims to equip these founders and leadership teams with strong business perspectives, address their specific organisational and individual challenges, as well as provide opportunities for peer learning.
One of the participant of baSEcamp is preparing to pitch for investments - which usually involves presenting their financials. While the social enterprise can put together simple financial calculations for the business, they find it challenging to make sound financial projections, forecasts, and identifying the break-even point. Thus, they are looking for a robust financial model that can effectively address the investors’ questions, as well as advice on how to present that in an easy to understand manner.
About the social enterprise needing support
The enterprise is based in India and supports farmers to make a shift from traditional farming to organic farming. More information will be shared upon interest.
What is currently done
The team makes simple financial calculations for the business.
How would the project benefit the enterprise
It will help them to stay on track with respect to financial goals and make the necessary changes from time to time. It will also help them in raising both equity and debt capital from institutions.
Extra note on number of volunteers required
The ideal number of volunteers for this project is 2 - 4 pax.
Extra note on timeline / start and end of project
The start and end date of the project is flexible; as long as it happens between July and November 2021. Volunteers need to commit up to 3 working sessions with the social enterprise (see Milestones for more information); timeline will be dependent on everyone's availability.
