GTS Academy Charity of the Year
As 2020 draws to a close let's contribute to easing some of the severe disruption that has affected many less fortunate than ourselves. Last year's charity was Winterhilfe, and sadly even in those times their slogan reflected reality; 'poverty in Switzerland is often invisible'. Today, with the economic catastrophe linked to Covid, this has worsened and there is help needed in all cantons.
This is why we have decided to make Winterhilfe GTS Academy's Charity of the year for a second year running. We were comforted to hear that they have been running a special Covid-19 support program, focussing on families in need, workers in need and single people who are struggling.
Roger Federer and his wife have made a donation to Winterhilfe, of 1 million francs!

In spite of the immense privilege that we all have in living in this wonderful country, it is estimated that 675,000 people in Switzerland are touched by poverty, but we can make a difference! This figure is from before Covid-19 had its terrible impact on the economy. By working with Winterhilfe (‘Winter Aid’), our objective in the GTS Academy is to support charities that work locally. The donations that we will collect will go towards providing clothing, financial support and help to children in the most vulnerable families in Switzerland.

Wir wollen die Auswirkungen der Armut in der Schweiz lindern.
Wir wollen knappe Haushaltsbudgets entlasten und dringliche Notlagen durch rasche Hilfe beheben. Unsere punktuellen Unterstützungsleistungen sollen im Sinne der Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe die Situation von Hilfesuchenden verbessern und nach Möglichkeit das Entstehen von erneuten Notlagen verhindern.
Wir wollen nicht nur zur Finanzierung absolut existenzieller Bedürfnisse wie Nahrung, Kleidung, Obdach und medizinische Grundversorgung beitragen. Für uns ist das soziale Existenzminimum massgebend, das die Teilhabe am Arbeits- und Sozialleben umfasst.

The Chairman's Office World Cup Donation campaign raised 1630 Swiss francs thanks to your contribution. A heartfelt thank you for this!
Throughout the year, Winterhilfe supports people living in Switzerland who are affected by - often invisible - poverty. They are currently particularly challenged by the rising costs of food and energy.
The upcoming holidays make the situation even more difficult. A festive menu or small gifts for the children are hardly affordable. That is why Winterhilfe gives out shopping vouchers on a large scale to people affected by poverty in December, thus giving them relief and the knowledge that they are not left alone with their worries.
Since we finance our work exclusively with donations, we depend on you. Thank you for supporting people in need in Switzerland. We wish you a happy holiday season with your loved ones and a good start to the new year.
