The Association of Alpes Vivantes

The Association "Alpes Vivantes" is an association under private law, independent and with an ideal aim. Alpes Vivantes was founded on November 21st 2019, in Aigle.

Alpes Vivantes attained legitimacy thanks to the support of the following Communes, Aigle, Ollon, Gryon, Lavey-Morcles, Leysin and Bex.

The territory of these municipalities extends from the Rhône (350 m), to the summit of the Diablerets (3210 m).

Its Committee and Bureau.

The committee of the new Alpes Vivantes Association is currently composed of 6 members from the Municipalities, Aigle, Ollon, Gryon, Bex and five actors specialized in sustainable development.

At the head of the Association is a chairwoman, Ms Jufer.  An executive secretary is responsible for the routine business of the Association.

The mission of Alpes Vivantes

Our long-term goal is to enhance the biological richness and ecologically valuable habitats of the Alpes Vaudoises, by managing projects within a regional organisation.

The Alpes Vivantes Association applies a sustainable approach to nature conservation, by implementing projects in collaboration with regional partners.

Our area of action

Our association operates within the commune territories of the Alpes Vaudoises outside the Natural Parc Gruyère Pays-d ‘Enhaut (Figure 1).

Our activities

Alpes Vivantes manages actions in rural, forest and urban areas.

It is committed to nature conservation by:

Creating citizen projects;

Conducting awareness-raising actions;

Carrying out maintenance projects for natural environments;

Dynamizing the circular economy;

Transferring knowledge.

Real projects and actions

Led by the Alpes vivantes association  projects and actions are carried out in collaboration with local partner organizations. They will be assisted by motivated volunteers.

Examples of real  projects and actions:

• Maintenance of dry meadows and pastures;
• Organization of field activities with corporate volunteers;
• Setting up of environmental education projects;
• Implementation of action plans for the preservation of a species;
• Organisation of brushing actions with goats or cattle;
• Plantation of native trees and hedges;
• Organization of exhibitions;
• Redaction of  articles for the Media (local newspapers, radio, television);
• Organisation of tourist activities to discover the nature of the Alpes Vaudoises.

How Alpes Vivantes is financed?

The Alpes Vivantes Association is financed by membership fees, implemented projects together with the support of foundations such as the Mava Foundation, WWF Switzerland and donations or grants from other partners.

There are 3 categories of membership fees according to member types:

Individual member: 40  Swiss francs per year and per person;      

Collective member: 40 to 500  Swiss francs per year depending on the number of employees/members;

Commune member: 600 to 1000  Swiss francs per year depending on the number of inhabitants.

The Alpes Vivantes Association is financed by project-related funds, membership fees, donations and grants.
