About the event

Join our Hands-On Bicycle Dismantling Workshop and make a real difference in communities across Africa. In this dynamic session, you will be actively involved in carefully dismantling old bicycles and grading spare parts, before preparing them for export to those in need.

Velafrica has been collecting and repairing discarded bicycles since 1993, shipping over 20,000 of them to communities in Africa every year. In addition to promoting mobility, Velafrica supports the establishment of bicycle workshops and the training of mechanics. This creates jobs and income opportunities in bicycle assembly, repair, and sales. In Switzerland, Velafrica also works with social institutions that employ unemployed people and people with disabilities. In this way, integration work is successfully combined with development cooperation.

This engaging workshop offers you the chance to learn valuable mechanical skills alongside fellow volunteers. You will work in pairs, contributing to a sustainable solution by facilitating bicycle transportation for individuals and families in Africa.

Throughout the day, you'll receive guidance and training from Werkraum4 professionals to ensure the spare parts are properly assessed and dismantled for their new journey. As part of our community effort, your participation directly supports social inclusion, enhancing mobility and opportunities for the receiving communities.

  • Participate in a practical bicycle dismantling course
  • Enjoy complimentary coffee, croissants, and a shared lunch
  • Receive training on proper bicycle dismantling techniques
