About the event
Join us for a meaningful volunteering experience at the Soupe Populaire in Lausanne, where you will help serve warm meals to people in need in a welcoming and respectful environment. This activity offers participants the opportunity to support the local community through direct social engagement while contributing to an important daily service for vulnerable individuals.
Volunteers will assist with meal distribution, interact respectfully with guests, and help ensure that the service runs smoothly and efficiently. The atmosphere is collaborative, supportive, and rewarding, making this an ideal activity for anyone wishing to make a positive social impact through simple but valuable actions.
No previous experience is required. A short introduction will be provided upon arrival, and the onsite team will guide volunteers throughout the activity.
Program
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. - Welcome and Setup
Participants will be welcomed by the coordination team and introduced to the Soupe Populaire facility, safety instructions, and volunteer responsibilities. During this time, volunteers will receive gloves and aprons, prepare the serving area, and help organize materials before guests arrive.
12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. - Meal Service
Volunteers will actively participate in serving meals to guests in a respectful and friendly manner. Tasks may include distributing food, helping with trays, supporting the kitchen or serving line, and ensuring the dining area remains clean and organized throughout the service.
This part of the activity encourages teamwork, empathy, and meaningful interaction within the local community.
1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. - Cleanup and Debriefing
After the meal service, volunteers will help clean and organize the space, including tables, serving equipment, and common areas. A short debriefing session will then take place with the team to reflect on the experience and share feedback. Drinks and cookies will be offered during this informal closing moment.
