Meal preparation (Soup Kitchen)
About the event
Join us for a rewarding volunteering experience at the Soupe Populaire in Lausanne by helping prepare meals for people in need. This activity gives participants the opportunity to contribute behind the scenes in a warm and collaborative kitchen environment while supporting an important community initiative.
Volunteers will assist with meal preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, organizing ingredients, and helping the kitchen team prepare food for the daily service. The activity encourages teamwork, social engagement, and solidarity with vulnerable members of the community.
No cooking experience is required. The onsite team will provide guidance and explain the different tasks at the beginning of the activity.
Program
9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. - Welcome and Introduction
Participants will be welcomed by the coordination team and introduced to the Soupe Populaire, the kitchen environment, hygiene guidelines, and volunteer responsibilities. Gloves and aprons will be provided before starting the activity.
9:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. - Meal Preparation
Volunteers will work together with the kitchen team to prepare meals for the day’s service. Tasks may include preparing vegetables, organizing ingredients, assisting with food preparation, and helping maintain a clean and efficient workspace. A short break will take place during the activity.
This hands-on experience is a meaningful way to support the local community while sharing a positive and collaborative moment with other volunteers.

Tea and coffee will be provided during the activity. Participants are also welcome to stay for lunch after the meal preparation is completed.
