To help prepare a feasibility study for Feelwell’s existing business and future expansion and help Feelwell automate manufacturing costing process

Background on Fell Well Cermacs:

Feelwell is a social venture focusing on solving sanitation problems. Today, half of Indonesians live in community practicing open defecation and a quarter of us have no toilet access. Poor sanitation has turned Indonesia into a country with the highest number of stunted children globally. This is a serious threat to the nation’s future generation. Founded in 2016, Feelwell addresses affordability and availability issues for sanitation by producing low-cost bathroom goods (e.g., toilets) and distribute them to areas with minimal and no toilet access. Today, we cater over 220,000 bathroom products annually and is the largest squat toilet producer in the nation. As part of Feelwell’s giving back, Feelwell runs community development program to increase awareness on the importance of sanitation and build free public toilets in areas with high stunting prevalence index and below poverty level.

For its achievement, Feelwell was invited to share its success in World Bank Annual Meeting in Bali 2018 and recognized by President Jokowi as one of 10 stunting heroes in Indonesia in 2019. At the same year, Feelwell managed to convince the country to have a standardized quality for all toilets to ensure safe and contained sanitation through SNI (Indonesian Standardization Body). Despite all of these achievements, Indonesia is still lagging behind in its progress to achieve SDG #6 by 2030. Indonesia needs a springboard to reach zero open defecation then and Feelwell wants to be a part of this.

What Feelwell does today only solve one part of the problem - providing toilet access. However, the real environmental health impact will come only when human waste is also properly managed. According to UN’s Joint Monitoring Program dashdboard in WASH, safely managed human waste in Indonesia is nonexistent. Feelwell needs to extend its portfolio beyond a toilet manufacturer. We aim to become an end-to-end hygiene company. This will make Feelwell the first company globally to manufacture sanitaryware, to provide service and maintenance for toilet works, as well as to collect and process human waste sustainably. Because this expansion is capital intensive, Feelwell needs to start fundraising in 2022 and form strategic alliance with the right institutional partners to achieve its mission. We seek for RISE expertise to help us leapfrog this process.

  • Feasibility study to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of Feelwell’s existing business and future expansion plan. Feasibility study should also uncover opportunities and threats
  • Feelwell’s existing cost of goods sold analysis and tools to automate the calculation
  • Recommendation on how Feelwell can be more cost efficient

CEO and finance manager will work closely with the volunteer
