About the event

Hardly any other castle complex in our country dominates the landscape as strikingly as the imposing Tarasp Castle. Built on a rock a hundred meters high, the fortress has been watching over the hamlets at the foot of the castle hill since at least the 11th century.
The traditional cultural landscape around Tarasp is characterized by valuable dry meadows, hedges, and larch forests that turn golden in autumn. The moor lake "Lai Nair" is also beautiful. Many endangered species find their habitat in this richly structured and extremely species-rich landscape.
The beautiful dry meadows and pastures in Tarasp are among the most species-rich habitats in Switzerland. Extensive agriculture, practiced for many centuries, is necessary to maintain their well-established ecological balance. Because they are less frequently farmed in less productive areas, more and more dry sites are becoming overgrown, leading to a loss of biodiversity.
During the WWF NaturAktiv assignment, the focus is on maintaining a flat moor or, depending on the weather, a dry pasture. You will learn about everyday agricultural work, expand your knowledge of ecological relationships, enhance important habitats for endangered species, and thus make an important contribution to the preservation of this valuable cultural landscape.
