The Playground Architects: Large-Group Activity at Robi
About the event
Join us for a day of hands-on outdoor activities as part of "The Playground Architects" event at Robi. This large-group volunteering opportunity focuses on fostering social inclusion through environmental efforts.
The Robinson Playground in Muttenz (Robi) was established as a community facility in the municipality of Muttenz in 1959 and has been run by the association since 1975. Robi has always remained true to its core mission: to provide children and young people with a space that is as free and open as possible for shared experiences, play, and crafts. Such creative experimentation without expectations and free learning outdoors in the forest has been proven to contribute to healthy child development.
This applies in particular to the model known in technical jargon as “risky play,” which involves trusting children to exercise a measured degree of personal responsibility for risk assessment within a supervised setting. In this way, they can learn to look after themselves, care for others, overcome fears, and develop resilience in the face of them.
Volunteers will play an essential role in enhancing and maintaining outdoor spaces, as well as contributing to future group activities for children. This work could includ:
- Buildin a stage, with a roof if needed, for theater, children’s birthday parties, etc.
- Landscaping
- Building a greenhouse
- Building or renovating stairs, fences, and borders
Your participation will help support social inclusion by providing a safe and enjoyable environment for diverse groups to gather, connect, and thrive.
Experience working in nature, gain insights into managing outdoor projects, and engage in meaningful teamwork with colleagues. This event promises an enriching day in a supportive community setting.
