About the event

Plant the rainforest of tomorrow. Discover Borneo. Make lifelong friendships. Join us for the adventure of a lifetime!

Our next volunteer trip will take place from February 8–22, 2026, with the option to extend your stay.

Agenda

1

What Awaits You in Borneo

In Borneo, you will work alongside other volunteers to reforest areas of rainforest that have been destroyed. You will assist animal caretakers in their daily routines, support feeding and cleaning tasks, and help maintain enclosures and pre-release islands. You will also create enrichment tools for orangutans and contribute to the upkeep of the newly established sun bear sanctuary.

There are various ways to travel to Borneo as a volunteer with BOS Switzerland. In all cases, volunteers will stay and work at the BOS rescue centre Samboja Lestari in East Kalimantan. Typically, the trip concludes with a visit to the second BOS rescue centre, Nyaru Menteng.

As this journey takes place only once a year as part of the One-Tree-One-Life campaign, we also offer additional opportunities to travel as a BOS Switzerland volunteer at other times—between early October and the end of March. During these trips, most of the volunteer work is focused on enrichment activities. In such cases, participants are supervised by our partner organization BOS Australia. In rare instances, individual trips may be arranged outside this period. Individuals with professional backgrounds (especially veterinarians) may be referred directly to the BOS Foundation.
