Volunteer Help on an Organic Flower Farm in Zurich Oberland
About the event
Join us for a hands-on volunteering day on an organic farm in Wernetshausen in the Zurich Oberland, located below the Bachtel. The farm is currently transitioning from cattle farming to the cultivation of organic pruning flowers, meadow flowers, and fruit trees, including Marroni and special red walnut varieties.
Volunteers will support a variety of seasonal farm activities that help establish and maintain the new flower fields, orchards, and meadows. Tasks may include planting and caring for flowers and young trees, removing weeds from flower beds and meadows, and preparing fields for future cultivation.
Depending on the weather and seasonal needs, additional tasks may include clearing wood and branches, storing wood pellets, assisting with small repair or string work on farm structures such as raised beds or small cottages, and helping with land preparation. Some newly planted trees are protected with wire mesh against mice, which requires careful and time-consuming work where volunteer support is very helpful.
This outdoor volunteering activity offers a meaningful opportunity to support the development of a sustainable organic farm while working together in a beautiful rural landscape of the Zurich Oberland.
